The wait is finally over! The look of the anti-hero in Shahrukh Khan’s ambitious superhero flick is officially out. We know that it’s very important for a superhero film to have a super villain who looks tough to conquer. So we have been wondering who G.One will actually fight! Then SRK went on to create tremendous hype over the villain’s look by hiding it till just a week before the film’s release. So our expectations were bound to be sky-high. But after getting the first glimpse of Arjun Rampal’s deadly avatar, we must admit that he seems to be the perfect choice for the role of RA.One! In the new trailer of the film, Arjun is spotted in not one, but three different looks. The bald Ghajini kinda look with some tattoos on the head and neck, plus a barcode thrown in, caught our attention the most. Then his character covers up his bald plate with the black hood as he walks in front of a burning effigy of the mythological Raavan in the second one. The third look seems to be the video game avatar which looks as good as the ones designed in Hollywood superhero flicks like Spiderman et al. It is the deadliest one too! Shahrukh has gone on record to say that for a change, people will not want the bad guy to die. Now we know why he said that! Rampal looks cool and menacing at the same time and now we are looking forward to the movie even more!

Can Prabhu Deva get Ajay Devgn to dance?

The ace choreographer-turned-director is perhaps the only one who can make the action star shake a leg after a long time

For some time now, Ajay Devgn has really not been dancing on screen. Proper, full-fledged dancing, that is. Not the few comic steps he does in Rascals or even Golmaal series. And we are not even considering his fist-making step in Singham. But now, we think it just might change. Ajay has reportedly agreed to do a film with Prabhu Deva. Now we all know how good a dancer Prabhu Deva is. And his choreography is even amazing, especially in his directorial films. Like Salman Khan’s nimble dance moves in Wanted. We hear his second film Rowdy Rathore has Akshay Kumar showing off some really awesome moves. It now seems to be Ajay’s turn. In the two decades he’s been in the industry, Devgn has never really explored that aspect of himself. We are sure Prabhu Deva will bring out the best in him. Remember Main aisa kyun hoon? Prabhu Deva took Hrithik Roshan’s dancing talent to an entirely new level. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see how he can harness and showcase Ajay’s dancing skills? We can’t wait to watch the film. MOD Movie review: Too many flaws and glitches

 

Nagesh Kukunoor’s film is so bad that it makes brainless comedies like Rascals look good

Mod is one of those rare films which are filled with so many flaws and glitches that you may just not know where to begin.One of the primary flaws which stood out like a sore thumb was that the director, Nagesh Kukunoor wants us to believe that his film is set in a north Indian hill-station, Ganga or Khushpur, but shows Tamil Nadu’s license plates on vehicles. The film is set in some neverland inhabited by about a handful of people who are happy and satisfied going on with their boring lives with no higher aspirations. Ayesha Takia plays the role of a watch-repair girl who doubles up as a waitress later in the day and is in search for real love. Her dad (played by Raghuveer Yadav) is an alcoholic and hence is always seen sleeping on the stairs outside his own house as Ayesha won’t let him in. One fine day Rannvijay Singh Singha who plays a schizophrenic stalker in the film, shows up at her door. There is a parallel track of a fat guy in the village who is in love with Ayesha, to whom she owes about ten lakh rupees and has to return somehow, someday. A third track running in the film shows a real estate development company that wants to take over the village and is willing to handout the villagers five times worth their land but Tanvi Azmi who runs a little restaurant is against it. She flags off a half-baked ‘Simon Go Back’ kinda movement, but it fizzles out.
The interval point arrives and you feel a ray of hope but you are let down when Rannvijay’s character, who is oscillating between two personalities – Andy and Abhay comes out as the most outrageously hilarious comedy sequence (unintentional) in recent times. The climax will make your jaw drop, not because it is that good but for its mammoth stupidity. Don’t watch this film, even if someone pays you to. This movie should be compulsorily watched by all the rejected MTV Roadies contestants, it will redeem their lives for good.

Why is Shahid Kapoor doing ‘Knight And Day’ remake?

 

After the brief impersonation of Tom Cruise in Top Gun for Mausam, Shahid is supposed to lead the official remake of the Hollywood superstar’s last film. We wonder if it’s really that big a deal!

A tabloid reported that Shahid Kapoor has grabbed the official remake of Tom Cruise’s last action drama Knight And Day. Siddharth Anand, the director of the box-office disaster Anjaana Anjaani, will be at the helm of the Hindi remake for the original producers Fox Studios. However, it won’t be an exact copy of the Tom Cruise-Cameron Diaz romance-action flick. It will be adapted to suit the sensibilities of the Indian audience. While our star actor and his campwallahs can jump with joy with the big news, we don’t really think it is great news. Actually, we don’t mind saying that it’s a tad too desperate for Sasha and the Hindi filmmakers to attempt a remake of the average film Knight And Day. And we have our reasons for it.
- While Hollywood star Tom and Shahid are on the same plane as far their height goes, our Bollywood hero is far from being an action man- an image associated with Tom Cruise.
- Knight And Day wasn’t really a blockbuster like Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible series and neither was it his finest work for us to jump on it
- And last, but the most important reason is this: why would the Indian audience want to watch a very recent release (2010) that was in any case dubbed in several local languages.
So do you get the point we are trying to make? Moreover, it seems Bollywood is running low on originality. After regional remakes and sequels we now have to deal with official remakes!
