Will Katrina Kaif’s ‘Ishaqzaade’ item number be better than ‘Sheila ki jawani’?

When Katrina Kaif shimmied to Sheila ki jawani, all she was thinking about was outdoing Malaika Arora Khan’s Munni badnaam hui. We are sure even she didn’t think that she’ll end up setting the bar so high, she too won’t be able to reach it again. That’s what happened with her item number in Bodyguard. She just didn’t sizzle in her much-awaited appearance the way she had done in Tees Maar Khan. Surely, that hasn’t put you off the idea of Kat doing more item numbers, we hope? ‘Cause the lovely lady has offered to do an item number in Arjun Kapoor’s debut film, Ishaqzaade. Wondering why? You see, Kat thinks of Arjun as her brother. The two became close with Arjun was dating Salman’s sister Arpita and Katrina was seeing Salman. Arjun later broke up with Arpita, but his friendship with Katrina continues till date. Whenever Katrina needs help, she would call Arjun as her own brother is in the UK. So when Arjun signed Yash Raj Films’ Ishaqzaade as his debut film, Katrina realised she wanted to return his favours and do an item number in his film. What remains to be seen is whether Katrina can prove herself as a hot item girl once again, after Bodyguard. She had made a lot of effort for Sheila ki jawani – from a stringent fitness regime that included gymming for long hours to giving up on her favourite chocolates. It paid off and Katrina’s Sheila ki jawani was much applauded. She faded again with her small appearance in Bodyguard‘s title track, but anyone who has watched Mere Brother Ki Dulhan will see that Katrina has definitely improved her dancing skills. Ishaqzaade could just be the film that will put Katrina back on the top of the item girl charts – even with stiff competition from newbie item girl, Chitrangda Singh in Joker. Will Anil Kapoor be convincing as Jack Bauer in 24 remake?

That’s what we wonder as the jhakaas man announces his plans to produce the Indian version of the popular American TV show

The television division of Anil Kapoor’s production house has clinched the remake rights of the American thriller show, 24. Apparently, it took the Slumdog Millionaire actor more than a year of negotiations to finalise the deal, but he did it. And now he is getting ready to fulfill his dream of making an Indian version of the TV show. For those not in the know, 24 follows Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), a Counter Terrorism Unit agent, as he protects his country from terrorist attacks. AK confirmed in a report that he will produce the show and also star in it. And, we think it will be the perfect TV debut for him. See, Jack Bauer is married man with a teenaged daughter in the beginning of the eight-season series. He is a tough nut who often puts his personal life at risk to fulfill professional duties. Now we think there is no one better than Anil to match these characteristics. Though the 50-plus star’s physicality can put a lot of young actors to shame, and he can still sing songs with pretty young things, it’s high time he did roles closer to his age. Forget his recent comedy roles in Welcome and Race 2. Just think of his toughie roles in Mashaal, Rakhwala and even Pukar. He was very credible as an army officer in the Rajkumar Santoshi film, don’t you think? And lastly, AK played a vital role in the series finale – as Omar Hussain, the president of the fictional Islamic Republic of Kamistan. But if he plays Jack, then who’ll play Omar? That’s a problem, isn’t it? But hey, who cares! We want to see Anil as Jack! Don’t you?

Vidya Balan oozes oomph at ‘The Dirty Picture’ music launch

It was a one-of-its kind event, especially for a film that is meant only for adults. Vidya had the crowd eating out of her hands at the music launch of her upcoming film, The Dirty Picture. It was a star-studded event, with the main cast, Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor and the producer, Ekta Kapoor joining the fun. The Ooh la la singers, Bappi Lahiri and Shreya Ghoshal enthralled the audience with their chartbursting song. But the evening belonged to Vids as she flaunted her curves and heaved her bosom, much to the amusement of the fans who were left asking for more. Surprisingly, music composer-duo, Vishal-Shekhar was missing in action at the do. It seems that the makers of the film are in for a gold run at the BO. And The Dirty Picture will probably go on to be remembered as Vidya’s most memorable performance ever.

Shahrukh, Hrithik, Farhan to be on Arjun Rampal’s TV show?

Rumour has it that the Ra.One actor’s new TV show – Love 2 Hate U – has got many of his star friends interested already

Every film star loves admirers and the bouquets, but few have the pluck to face people who hate them and the brickbats they bring along. That’s the concept of dapper dude Arjun Rampal’s new TV show – Love 2 Hate U. Every episode will feature a film celebrity and a person who loves to hate them. Obviously the intention of the show is to turn the hater into a fan through the face-to-face chat. According to Rampal, the haters are chosen via various social networking sites. Anyway, while the first episode takes off with the Heroine director Madhur Bhandarkar as the guest, we hear that Arjun began shooting for the show with an episode of himself and his top hater which will be aired later. Apparently, the show has already created a lot of buzz because of its unconventional format. Rumour has it, that biggies like Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor want to be a part of the show to confront their haters. We understand that the men are doing it because of their close friendship with the model-turned-actor, but why Sonam? First of all her resume doesn’t boast of enough films for her to be on the show and the second thing is she’d probably have more haters than lovers all thanks to her acting skills. So let’s hope she knows what she is getting into! As for Arjun, this isn’t his first appearance on television. The actor had been a judge on the dance reality show, Nach Baliye along with Karisma Kapoor and Farah Khan, so we hope he knows what the audience expects of him.

This is the story of Janardhan Jakhar, a boy-next-door who harbours the ambition of being a rockstar a la his idol, Jim Morrison. He is from a humble background, but that doesn’t stop him from chasing his dream of making it big in the musical world. Thanks to his ignorance and silly attitudes, all he gets is ridicule and humiliation from everyone. Just when he is about to give up, his mentor (a professor) advises him that all musical stars – all artistes, in fact – have one thing in common: tragedy. They have all suffered painful heartbreaks that, in part, make them what they are. Janardhan picks up that single keyword: heartbreak. To get to that state of being, he needs to fall in love. For that, he chooses Heer Kaul, who is the undisputed diva of the college campus, beautiful, talented, arrogant, rich and unavailable. Hoping that she will break his heart, he sets out to woo Heer. Rockstar is the journey of a boy who leaves behind his identity as Janardhan the yokel to become Jordan the rockstar. The story captures the essence of his journey of soul-searching, his rise to fame and his self-destruction… all of which comes at a price. He loses his heart and the peaceful existence he knows as Janardhan Jakhar, forever. This version of the story has really got us all excited and we can’t wait to watch it and find out for ourselves whether it is true. Shahrukh’s ‘Om Shanti Om’ sees 30 celebs grooving together

B-town’s who’s who come together alongside King Khan. What a visual treat!

With its unmatched razzmatazz, glitz and eye-candies galore, Om Shanti Om‘s title track was a treat to watch. The song set a record for having the maximum number of stars appearing in one video – and sending fans ballistic! You can watch the fun on YouTube Boxoffice. Choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan decided to make several stars gyrate to the catchy tune right alongside Shahrukh Khan and managed to pull it off very well. Friends and foes, young and not-so-young, ladies and gentlemen, boys and gals all were seen rubbing their shoulders in this video with a million dollar smile on their faces, thanks to the ace choreographer’s solid connections and SRK’s inimitable star power. With so many stars on one platform, it reminded us of John Johnny Janardhan from Manmohan Desai’s Naseeb which featured several stars including Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna, Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Sharmila Tagore and Randhir Kapoor in the same song. While gossip and fights become mundane, so many happy stars having fun together is a cherished sight. It just can’t get better than this!

Ranbir Kapoor in Rohit Dhawan’s next, ‘Bad Boyz’?

David Dhawan’s son Rohit, director of the Akshay Kumar-John Abraham-starrer Desi Boyz, is reportedly planning a new film with the Rockstar dude. Will good boy RK become a baddie in this one?

It seems that the Rockstar actor is the toast of the season. Everyone who is anyone in B-town wants to work with him. The latest filmmaker to this list is his long-time friend Rohit Dhawan. We hear that Rohit, who debuts as a director with Desi Boyz, has already planned a series around Boyz. His next film is titled Bad Boyz and he has unofficially cast Ranbir in it. In a recent interview Ranbir had said, “I would want to do an out-and-out negative film. I want to play with characters, I want to explore myself,” So his doing anything about boys (or boyz) that are not good doesn’t really come as a surprise. Meanwhile, Rohit has allegedly not yet decided on who will play the other bad boy in his film, but a li’l birdie told us that he is trying hard to get Imran Khan on board. Well if that happens, it will be a huge casting coup for the young filmmaker. The Ranbir-Imran camaraderie is awesome - though they are not friends, as they have clarified very recently – and their comic timing together is spot on, so it would be a great thing to see them share screen space. As for the girls in this film, rumour runs rife that Rohit wants to cast fresh faces because he is going through a tough time trying to please the leading ladies of Desi Boyz, Deepika Padukone and Chitrangda Singh. We are now looking forward to the official announcement about Rohit’s next. Then we will know whether there is any credibility to this story!

Salman Khan, Govinda’s ‘Partner 2′ shelved

Salman Khan, Govinda and director David Dhawan were initially very keen to follow up the hit film with a sequel bound by a much better script. But according to the latest buzz, the whole idea of the sequel has been dropped. Initially David Dhawan claimed that he was working on the script for Partner 2 but the director later confirmed that the sequel has been shelved entirely because they couldn’t find a good script and Salman is very busy with his prior commitments. But there’s more to the story. According to sources, Dhawan had presented Salman with various scripts for Partner 2 but the actor rejected them all. Apparently, Salman is being extra cautious of the kinds of films he associates himself with now and the Partner sequel did not appeal enough. Dhawan who has been going through a low phase ever since Rascals tanked at the BO, has decided to drop the idea of the sequel rather than compromising his friendship with Salman or the story. While Partner minted moolah at the BO, it was a given that the sequel would also garner the same kind of adulation but guess Govinda’s luck ran out. In the meanwhile, Dhawan’s Chashme Baddoor remake starring Siddharth and Ali Zafar is all ready and set to hit the screens soon. Guess the director knows how to keep himself busy!

But since then, every report about the status of her pregnancy has been categorically denied by the Bachchans. No, she is not having twins. No, she is not having a C-section on the ‘auspicious’ date of November 11. No, her doctor didn’t give any special, early morning appointments. No, Abhishek did not ask for paternity leave from shooting Dhoom:3. No details of her godh bharai (baby shower) were revealed, despite a fan frenzy outside her home on that day. And now the latest denial: That the Bachchans were not responsible for the directive from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting saying the media should take care about covering the delivery of Baby B. Senior Bachchan even wrote on his blog that the family was having a lot of fun over the “entirely made up reports” about his bahu‘s baby bites. Hey, when there is no news coming from you, there will be speculation, Mr B. That’s human nature. Ash has rarely been seen outside her home once her pregnancy was announced – was that because she needs rest? Considering her age, it must be a difficult pregnancy. We understand. Ash wants her privacy, and we are willing to respect that, but shouldn’t she respect her fans too? It is thanks to those same fans that she is still in demand at Cannes, she gets a wax statue in London and earns crores in endorsements. The least she can do is issue a statement about her well-being. Is that too much to ask? Or is there a set of rules we need to follow to get some information on that one? Bigg Boss 5: Sky patches up with Mahek on Eid

The day starts on a positive note. It’s Eid and Sanjay Dutt sends special greetings and sweets to the contestants. All of them doll up for the festival. Vida Samadzai misses spending the day with her family and cries throughout the day. All the contestants try to make her stop crying, but in vain. During the day, Sky and Lakshmi have a minor argument, but they soon patch up. Then Sky and Mahek talk about their differences, and everything that happened the previous week. They forgive each other and become friends again.

However, the good mood doesn’t last long. Bigg Boss assigns a funny task to the housemates. Shraddha Sharma, as the captain of the house, orders Pooja Misrra to do something. That doesn’t go down well with Pooja and the two engage in a fight.
The day ends with Pooja Bedi and Juhi Parmar praising Sky for the positive way in which he has changed the atmosphere of the house. They like the way he is making everyone laugh.
