Two weeks away from the finale, Bigg Boss 5 takes a new turn of bringing in a wild card entry – Mahek Chahal. When Mahek was asked to leave the house a fortnight ago, the Norway resident promised herself to take a flight back home only after meeting every contestant of the Bigg Boss 5 house face to face. She thought her wish would be granted only after the show ended, but destiny planned to play a different game altogether. She stood tall in front of all the contestants right on the eve of Christmas as an equal contender to win Bigg Boss 5. Dressed in a Santa Claus costume, Mahek’s entry surprised her friends and shocked her foes in the house. While Mahek had convinced herself to be back with a bang on the show, she also turned out to be a rude shock for some contestants who had never expected to see the lady again, at least while in the house. From being insulted about her jaw displacement and questions asked about her character, Mahek has seen and faced it all. This was her only chance to go back in the house and return the favour to all those who made her two months stay in the house miserable. Looks like this Santa has plans of making every contestant’s Christmas a memorable one. Father-daughter duo Anil and Sonam Kapoor wouldn’t be too delighted with the new joke that’s doing the rounds of B-town lately. The Kapoors seem to be the highlight of the year with people taking a dig on everything, right from Anil’s nickel-and-dime cameo in Mission: Impossible 4 to Sonam’s unrelenting determination to continue acting despite the flops she has been delivering at full-throttle speed. But this time the jest is not on the usual things the Kapoors are targeted for; this time it’s something that’s downright silly and if we had to describe it in our own style, it’s kind of ‘cheesily amusing’. Keeping Anil Kapoor’s hairy chest in mind, a prankster recently tweeted, “Sonam Kapoor plays Farmville on her daddy’s chest.” Well for people who haven’t heard of this useless game called Farmville, it’s a virtual farmer’s paradise on social networking site Facebook which people play to kill time and perhaps also kill their active brain cells. Now we wonder how Sonam will react if she comes across this silly remark made about her and her daddy. She will definitely have a swift retort at the tip of her tongue, as always. Although we are quite curious to know what the Kapoor babe’s reaction will be, wethink you guys could have given veteran Anil Kapoor uncle a better gift on his birthday which he quietly celebrated with his close friends and family on December 24. Pairing two actors with opposite images can always be risky. Even more when you are Ashwini Chaudhary (the director of Good Boy, Bad Boy) and making your first big budget romantic comedy. We were initially hopeful it will work. R Madhavan and Bipasha Basu seemed to be hitting it off very well in the movie stills. But after taking a look at the poster, we are beginning to have our doubts about the film. If buzz is to be believed, Jodi Breakers is a lot like the French film L’arnacœur (Heart Breaker) where the hero is hired by the heroine’s father to stop her from marrying a man he feels is unsuitable for her. The hero is suave and charming, and actually runs a business specialising in breaking up couples. Only in this case, he falls in love with the lady. If that’s the story here too then we wonder if Madhavan can be the suave charming hero and that too opposite the sultry Bipasha. Another thing we don’t understand is, why in the world does the poster have Bips looking taller than Maddy? Was that deliberate? Or is it a photo-editing job gone wrong? The poster surely doesn’t inspire us to watch the film or eagerly wait for it to release this February. Does it work for you? Tell us!

Shahrukh Khan’s Don 2 – The King is Back earned Rs. 15.3 crore on the opening day, which is the highest first day collection on a non-holiday Friday. It earned Rs. 45 crore over the weekend. The film is a sequel to Farhan Akhtar’s 2006 Don, which was a remake of the 1978 Amitabh Bachchan-starrer of the same name. In overseas markets, Don 2 broke the record for the highest single day gross for a Hindi film in Australia with estimated earnings of US$82,000 Friday. The earlier record was held by Reliance Entertainment’s Salman Khan-starrer, Bodyguard at US$74,000. Don 2, also starring Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani, Kunal Kapoor and Lara Dutta earned $550,000 in North America, beating My Name is Khan opening day gross of $445,000 – also beating the collections of RA.One on the first three days.
