Aamir Khan’s directorial debut Taare Zameen Par was a huge success. The actor got rave reviews for not just his performance, but for also implementing a simple concept with great dexterity. TZP may have been Khan’s first project as a director, but he wasn’t really new to the job of staying behind the camera. Aamir has assisted his uncle Nasir Hussain before. And he gained the much needed experience before taking up the responsibility of a filmmaker. But when will we get to see him direct again? Well, that’s going to take some time ‘coz Khan admits that he’s really pressed for time.  The actor is busy with the second season of Satyamev Jayate, Dhoom:3 and Peekay, which is one of the reasons he has to delay his dream of directing his second film for now, even though he has a concept ready in his creative head and the script is pretty much in place.

Khan is full of ideas and visions. Along with his desire to direct a film, he also spilled the beans about how he is fascinated with the Mahabharat, and that he will only show this epic on the big screen after an extensive research and a detailed homework. Well, that’s why we call him a perfectionist, no?

The actor looks dapper in a cop’s uniform while Ileana seems to be enjoying her handsome co-star’s company. We just hope that the two young actors don’t take each other’s company very seriously!

Aamir Khan is known to be a complete original. And when it comes to marketing his films, once can say that Aamir can easily author a book on the subject, having invented various clever tricks and gimmicks to get his movies create the necessary pre-release buzz.

However, seems like Aamir has gone a bit renegade this time around to promote his upcoming suspense drama Talaash. Just as Picasso said – Good artists copy, while great artists steal – Aamir has stolen Emraan Hashmi’s idea. Wonder what we are talking about? Well, to promote Rush, Emraan had a series of meetings with crime journalists in Mumbai; a tested formula that Aamir is now adopting by interacting with crime journalists across nine cities in the country. But while Emraan’s film sank without much of a trace, Talaash seems to be getting rave reviews from people close to the film. Even director Anurag Kashyap was heard saying in a recent interview that when he saw the movie, he felt it was “kick-ass!”

Well, we guess Aamir can be forgiven for his cheek. Ask any celeb and they will say, all is fair in love and film promotional efforts!

Jab Tak Hai Jaan box office report: Rs 101.26 crore in India!

Yash Chopra’s last film has finally made it to the Rs 100-crore club

Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ), Yash Chopra’s last directorial venture, continues to mint money. The romantic saga has earned Rs 101.26 crore at the domestic box office in 11 days since its release. The movie, featuring Shahrukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, released on 2,500 screens on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, November 13.

Made at a budget of Rs 50 crore, the movie has surpassed the Rs 100-crore mark in the Indian market, even though it had crossed the milestone figure in terms of worldwide collections within six days of hitting the screens.

Despite mixed reviews from all quarters, it had grossed over Rs 120 crore from all over the world in six days, and at the Indian box office, the movie had managed to get Rs 80.73 crore. The figures only seem to be on a rise. The buzz for the film was immense, given the fact that it is Chopra’s last directorial, a project he took up eight years after helming Veer-Zaara. It has also brought back Shahrukh in his classic romantic avatar, which his female fans love him for.

John Abraham and Viacom18 to produce Jaffna & Hamara Bajaj

Actor John Abraham has joined hands with Viacom18 Motion Pictures to co-produce Jaffna andHamara Bajaj, his next projects as producer. John, 39, made his production debut with director Shoojit Sircar’s directorial Vicky Donor this year. The movie was a sleeper hit, and earned rave reviews. Sircar is also directing both Jaffna and Hamara Bajaj.

“Vicky Donor” was co-produced by John and Eros Entertainment, but Sircar had expressed his resentment with the production banner for not sending the movie for even consideration when a jury was selecting India’s official entry for the Oscars.

If sources are to be believed, John feels Viacom 18 has done justice to both big budget and even smaller budget, concept-based films like Kahaani, Gangs Of Wasseypur and OMG! Oh My God, which have done well at the box office.

Table No. 21: Rajeev Khandelwal gets a taste of his own medicine

The Sach Ka Saamna host had his ‘moment of truth’

Actor Rajeev Khandelwal, who hosted the popular Sach Ka Saamna show, will now be seen playing a similar truth-and-lie game in the forthcoming film Table No. 21. He admits he got a taste of his own medicine.

“It was tough to sit on the seat. When I used to host that show, I always used to say that it is not easy to sit on that chair. It was my first-hand experience to sit on the chair in Table No. 21. Hats off to those who came on my show and sat in front of me and faced those questions,” the 37-year-old said at the first look launch of Table No. 21 in Mumbai.

The small screen heartthrob, thanks to his popular show Kahiin Toh Hoga, has mostly done offbeat films like Aamir, Shaitaan and Soundtrack. Only scripts with a soul and sensibility inspire him and good scripts make an actor’s job much easier, said Rajeev.

Table No. 21 also stars Paresh Rawal and Tena Desae and is slated for a January 4 release next year.

“Aamir was a wonderful script, so is Table No. 21 . I like scripts which have a soul and some kind of sensibility. An actor’s work becomes a lot easier if the script is good. You are not lost in the film…I also attempted Will You Marry Me; it didn’t work,” Rajeev said.

“But I think it’s more of the script. As Pareshji said, you’ll understand what the movie is about after you see it. I am sure once you walk out of the cinema hall, you’ll say it was a good script and film,” he added.
