Shirish Kunder’s ambitious 3D film now has a release date, but that clashes with the release of Vikram Bhatt’s successful Raaz franchise
Apparently Shirish Kunder hasn’t learned much from his past mistakes. Remember
Jaan-e-man, his debut film, which had Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar playing the lead roles? He released it alongside Shahrukh Khan’s
Don. No wonder the film tanked, even though it did manage to get some vibe for the director going in the industry. His latest 3D film,
Joker, we hear, is being released alongside
Raaz 3, despite the fact that the Bhatts tried reasoning with Shirish.
In his trademark quirky way, Kunder tweeted, “For those asking, JOKER shooting is complete & releases Aug 30, 2012. For those not asking, pretend no one saw you reading this.”
Raaz 3 stars Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez along with Bipasha Basu, who will make a comeback to the Bhatt camp; Kunder’s film has Akshay Kumar, whose last solo-hit was Vipul Shah’s
Singh is Kinng. More than anything else,
Joker is neither a romantic comedy nor an action flick – both of which might find takers. If the buzz about the film is anything to go by, it’s kinda edgy and experimental, about aliens taking over a city, or something on those lines, in which Akshay Kumar plays a rocket scientist. This definitely wouldn’t interest the masses who lap up every film churned out by the Bhatt camp. It seems that either Kunder is over-confident about his film or else he doesn’t care about its fate at the BO. Do you think that the joke would ultimately be on the makers of
Joker?
