Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor get together to produce a film

It will be great to see the two producers, who come from two completely different schools of filmmaking, join hands and their combined clout to make a film

There have been speculations galore about Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor being a couple and about their impending marriage for a long time now. Finally, the two will come together, but not as a lovey-dovey couple. Instead as co-producers of a romantic film which they seem to be quite gung-ho about. KJo posted a message on Twitter, “Ekta and I are super excited about the script we are producing together….will announce details as we cast the film and title it!!!” This is probably one of the most potent collaborations of 2012 as both Johar and Kapoor seem to know the pulse of the audience and have had a successful track record. Ekta’s latest film, The Dirty Picture, has been one of the highest grossing films of 2011 and Karan has two films coming up in 2012, Hrithik Roshan-Priyanka Chopra-starrer Agneepath and Imran Khan-Kareena Kapoor-starrer Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, both of which are potential blockbusters. There is still some time before the cast of this Karan-Ekta film is officially announced but the speculations have already begun. Will it be an Ekta style small budget flick or will it be a typical big starcast Dharma film? We’ll have to wait to find out. What we know though is that this film will see the debut of director Akshay Roy, a discovery of Balaji Films’ president, Swati Shetty. Watch this space for more juice on this project.
