Lauren Scruggs’ Community Raises $10,000 For Her Recovery

Friends, family and well-wishers attended a silent auction to raise money for Lauren’s family.

As model Lauren Scruggs continues to recover after having her face and hand slashed in an airplane propeller Dec. 3, her community is rallying support. A silent auction was held Dec. 27 at Sambuco 360 in Plano, Texas, where goods donated by local businesses were sold to raise money for Lauren’s family. LeeAnne Locken, who served as emcee of the evening, told attendees that the event was “about celebrating.”

“It is about celebrating that Lauren Scruggs is going to come back 10 times stronger than she was before this accident,” she announced.
Friends, family and other members of Lauren’s Texas community turned out to show their support. Items at auction ranged from a pearl necklace and earrings to a cocktail party for 12 at a local restaurant.
“I’m really here for them,” attendee Eric Krisher told ABC News. “It’s a difficult time for [the Scruggs family]. Lauren’s got a long road ahead in recovery. They’re just a genuine family
Lauren’s friend Janee Harrell added: “By the grace of God, Lauren is doing amazingly well. It is truly a miracle to think of how far she has come in such a short amount of time. Her mind and her outlook and her spirit is amazing. Her beauty is truly from within.”
