Demi Lovato wants her fans to know there’s always help — and hope — if you’re struggling with an eating disorder

After lashing out at The Disney Channel for joking about anorexia, Demi Lovato revealed more of her struggle with eating disorders on her Seventeen blog — and encouraged her fans in need to find the help and support they deserve to recover.
“I started compulsively overeating at a very young age,” Demi begins in the blog. “And then I almost stopped eating altogether at the age of 12, after being harassed by kids at school, for being ‘fat’. My eating disorder will continue to affect me for the rest of my life, but I’m proud to say that I got the help I needed, and am now the happiest and healthiest I have ever been!”
Demi, 19, admitted herself into rehab last year for emotional and physical problems, including cutting and eating disorders, and has since been open about her plight, in an effort to help those suffering from similar issues.
The former Disney starlet has also partnered with the Jed Foundation for the Love Is Louder Than the Pressure To Be Perfect campaign, which encourages “everyone to love who they are and embrace the so-called ‘flaws’ that actually make each of us unique.”
Demi concludes her post, writing, “You can get help, and you can feel better. STAY STRONG!”
